MEET JESSICA L. POURSOHI
Jessica Libresco Poursohi is a respected equine tax attorney based in Redwood City, California.
Practice Areas: Jessica's practice focuses on federal and international tax law, foreign investment reporting, tax planning, and audit defense. She works with clients in the horse industry, including barn owners, trainers, and horse owners to analyze and develop tax planning opportunities, as well as to defend against IRS audits involving issues such as hobby loss challenges and the IRS National Research Project.
Education: Jessica received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz, where she double majored in economics and sociology. She received her joint law and business degree from Santa Clara University where she was a founding editor and symposium director for the Santa Clara Journal of International Law. While at the law school, she was a pro bono award recipient (2001, 2002, and 2003), an active Student Bar Association Finance Committee Board Director, and a member of Phi Delta Phi, the ACLU, and the Women’s Law Association.
Court Admissions: Jessica is admitted to practice before all Courts in the State of California, including the Supreme Court of California, California Superior Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Jessica is a member of the State Bar of California, the San Mateo County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Taxation Section of the State Bar of California.
Experience: Prior to joining Hey & Hey Attorneys at Law LLP, Jessica worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in its international tax services group where she provided consultation, compliance, and project management for global company clients with regard to cross-border transactions, and responded to inquiries from regulatory authorities. She also worked as a contract litigation associate for several large San Francisco law firms where she gained experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, ERISA, and mergers and acquisitions. In addition, Jessica studied European Union patent law with a prominent German law firm based in Munich, interned for Bay Area Legal Aid, as well as interned for the Conciliation Forums of Oakland and the Santa Cruz County District Attorney's Office.
Family: In her free time, Jessica enjoys traveling, photography, and spending time with her family. She currently resides in Berkeley with her husband and 1 year old daughter.
